"Be thankful for what you have and you will end up having
more. If you concentrate on what you don't have you will
never have enough" (Oprah Winfrey)
Now you might ask yourself what has this got to do with the
life of a professional athlete?
Well depending on how each individual views their personal
circumstances it can start to play a significant and
destructive role in a persons life which then unfortunately
starts to spill over into their day to day life as a
professional athlete.
Rule number one
Remember you are not alone, in this, but often a member of a
team, albeit a very important individual within the team.
Rule number two
Never compare yourself with somebody else.
This can really start to drill a hole in your head and like
a burning coal always ends up somewhere deep down in a fire
unseen but never the less burning hot.
Rule number 3
What's yours is yours, and what's theirs is theirs. You
don't have to, and shouldn't divulge the terms of the
contract that you may hold with your different sponsors.
Indeed it is your sponsors that advise this and often
(usually) insist on this.
Rule number 4
Sort out all the admin and the things that take up valuable
training time before the season gets underway so that you
have a clear mind and con concentrate of the season ahead
and the challenges it brings
Just some simple simple points that can contribute to the
difference between winning or coming second !
Remember what ever you do...
BOLDLY GO!
